While we, Nippon Yuryo Kentei Kyokai, have proudly been an impartiality and neutrality third-party conformity assessment body, we have honed our skills. And this philosophy, we believe, drives us not only toward contribution of food safety but also toward challenge to new fields according to the change of time.

GREETING FROM THE CHAIRMAN

We will continuously protect the Japanese food safety.

We, Nippon Yuryo Kentei Kyokai, were established in 1941 with the overall consensus of Oil Refining Industry, and then approved by “Ministry of Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries“, “Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism“ and “Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare“. Since the establishment, we have contributed on food safety as an impartiality and neutrality third-party conformity assessment body during 80 years

I would like to deeply sincerely express my gratitude for the support and understanding of all of people, especially people of Oil Refining Industry.

The environment around the world has changed rudely, and uncertain new era has entered. However, we will challenge to new fields such as circumstance or energy technologies while we have maintained our ordinal skills continuously improved for 80 years, and we have contributed food safety resulting from our inspection and analysis on oil, fats and these derived raw materials in oil refining industries. I appreciate your continued support.

ABOUT US

Our job is an assessment of food and environment; it means "Life Watcher".

Nihon Yuryo Kenteisho was established in 1941 in order to provide safe, rapid, and accurate inspection results on oil trading. The organization was reorganized in 1952 as Incorporated Association of Nippon Yuryo Kentei Kyokai under jurisdiction of Food and Marketing Bureau in Ministry of Agriculture and Forging, and was licensed by Ministry of Agriculture and Forging Food Distribution Bureau in 1963,

We, Nippon Yuryo Kentei Kyokai(NYKK), have been got the support of Japan Oilseed Processors Association, Japan Soap, Detergent Association, Japan Margarine Industry Association and other closely related associations and companies. We have been pursuing to inspect and analysis on mainly imported and exported oils and fats.

So far, we have been expanding to 9 offices and 2 analysis canters as the associations have been growing.

Concerning to the inspection work, we opened a general analysis center in Tokyo in 1950 and a general analysis center in Kobe in 1956. We became a specific inspection body designated by Department of Living Hygiene of Ministry of Health and Welfare when Food Sanitation Act was changed. Also, we registered as an environmental measurement and working environment measuring organization, and we are operating safety testing of chemical materials based on Industrial Safety and Health Act.

Concerning to international activities, we have been a surveyor certified with NIOP and FOSFS, and we are carrying out international exchange analyses with AOCS, FOSFA, NIOP and others.

We have been proactively interacting with our clients of research organizations for related inspection, and have been devoting our technologies and have been uplifting authority and credibility of our results.

HISTORY OF THE ASSOCIATION

Founded in 1941. Our history is the history of Japan’s oil inspection.

April 1941. Japan Oil and Gas Analysis Institute established in Kobe. A branch office is established in Yokohama.
April 1950. The Chemical Analysis Laboratory is established in Tokyo.
July 1952. Reorganized as "Japan Oilseed Corporation" approved by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
June 1956. Opened the Sogo Bunseki Center in Kobe
March 1961. Joined NIOP (National Institute of Oilseed Products) and became an international trade inspection organization for oil products.
March 1962. Join the American Oil Chemists' Society (AOCS) and perform exchange analysis.
May 1963. Became a licensed appraiser and quantity surveyor under the jurisdiction of the Department of Transportation.
June 1964. Joined Japan Association for the Promotion of International Trade and became a friendly company between Japan and China.
November 1967. Registration of the measurement certification business in accordance with the Measurement Act.
November 1975. Became the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) Japanese representative exchange laboratory.
December 1975. Designated as a food hygiene inspection organization under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
March 1976. Registration of environmental measurement certification business in accordance with the Measurement Law (concentration)
March 1977. Authorized by the Ministry of Labor as a working environment measurement organization.
March 1977. Chemical Analysis Laboratory relocated to Yokohama City (Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku, Tokyo)
October 1977. Licensed as a drinking water quality inspection station under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Health and Welfare.
June 1979. Registration of environmental measurement certification business in accordance with the Measurement Act (Noise)
November 1982. Entrusted Inspection Business Agreement" signed with China Import and Export Commodity Inspection Corporation.
July 1983. Became an accredited inspection agency of the National Drinking Milk Fair Trade Council.
May 1985. Commissioned as a member of the Hazardous Liquid Substances Pretreatment Committee of the Japan Marine Accident Prevention Association.
September 1988. Assigned to FOSFA(Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations Limited)member.
July 1995. Changed the name of "Chemical Analysis Laboratory" to "Analytical Technology Center".
March 1998. Analytical Technology Center moved from Yamashita-cho, Naka-ku to Kaigan-dori Bankoku-bashi Building, Naka-ku.
February 2004. Became a registered inspection body of the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare in accordance with the revision of the Food Sanitation Law.
September 2004. Headquarters relocated from Chuo-ku, Kobe to Higashinada-ku, Kobe.
May 2006. In accordance with the revision of the Port Transport Business Law, the company became a licensed operator by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
January 2007. Registered as a confirmation organization by the Director-General of the Japan Coast Guard in accordance with the Act on Prevention of Marine Pollution and Maritime Disasters.
February 2011. Yokohama Branch relocated to a new office building (from Naka-ku to Minami-ku, Yokohama City)
April 2013. Shifted to a general incorporated association.
March 2017. General Analysis Center and Analytical Technology Center receive ISO/IEC17025 certification by Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation, Inc.
